i wonder...

wonder how are the mates back at camp? and i'm still slacking at home while they're probably working their bodies out hahax. naah basically i had this MDC (music and drama company) audition today where all you had to do is to go all the way to nee soon camp and march all the way in and tell them that you're not interested, and then you're free to leave...sheesh but at least i get to stay home for one more day! hahax currently in a daze right now, so yep really sorry for the erratic writing.

wonder how my juniors are? haven't been really keeping contact due to the hectic schedule, and ya that's not a really good excuse either, so really sorry about that! but in any case, we'll be meeting this weds! you really lose touch of the real world when you're in army...really missing you maldivians, and really hope that you guys are alright! really...hahax...

wonder how my pals are? classmates, and also schoolmates...hopefully weds will be a great day for all of us! and hope army is good enough to let us book in on thurs instead of weds hahax. only 1 more week plus to go before POP!

wonder how is she? seems like a long time, and the feeling is lost i guess, and seriously i haven't seen her for a really long time. the lingering feeling, the knot to the heart...just can't help feeling lost for once...once again.

wonder how life will be after tekong? where will i get posted to? and how will life be...ahhhh...but i'll be looking forward to the next few days, still tired but shall try to be as optimistic as possible! take care guys!

relieved!

hahax finally all the major events are over! range, grenade, SITEST...so that means that i've nuthin much to worry abt except my IPPT and SOC! whee! hahax...and i just booked out yesterday when everyone else is booking in, just feels so weird, o wells...

but after so many major events, like range, i got to know a lot of my platoon mates better i guess. there's so much waiting time in between, so yar we shared lotsa life stories (o my tt makes me sound so old! hahax) and experiences, some of them which i can really relate to, and you just realise that everyone's really nice and everything. there's always a soft side in all of us i guess, and maybe we just need time to show it...

under the midnight sky

a march with seemingly no end
unknowingly they know
hope is on the other bend

a sonata of sweat
they trudge on into the wilderness
with no destination, no clue
and suffering from thirst

accompanied by a army of mosquitoes
cetipedes, ants and flies
their hunger is satisfied
only by a packet of pontay rice

finally they are evacuated
tired but relieved
back to the home
where their journey begins

starry starry night

so happy to be back again! after a long period outfield...i'm so glad that it's finally over! 7 days is just...erm pretty terrible, but it's fun and i'm glad to have survived it!

okie basically field camp is something almost everyone in BMT has to go thru, you're left outfield for 7 days, eating combat rations (hahax chicken pontay rice and cabbage rice...eeks!), sleeping on grass and hard soil with earthworms crawling beside you, powder baths, proning on mud and mimosa thorns, getting bitten by mosquitoes and sandflies (have a constellation made by bites on my left hand, so cool lar!), marching thru jungles seeing oil palms, rubber plantations and lalang grass, being followed by a dog during marches (apparently it happens to every batch of falcons when we go on a field camp, maybe it's a blessing!), digging and carrying sand under the hot sun, sleeping under the starry night sky with fireflies, chatting with my buddy throughout the night, sleeping with your rifle slung on your body to prevent it from getting stolen, and wearing boots 24/7...reminds me of my NPCC days and also maldives! hahax...

throughout this journey i've gotten to know my buddy better (jonathan! hahax he rawkx lar...a hard worker) and my other section and platoon mates better. it's like these kind of situations which make you learn a lot about your limits, your tolerance and your mindset...how people can influence you in simple ways, whether negatively or positively. it also makes you more aware of the world around you, how poor some people are that food is a luxury to them (after eating yucky combat rations...hahax) and also life skills like communication, listening and mental preparation. sounds so like maldives right? hahax...i remember those days where we could sit around and just crap, and then put in our effort to achieve a common goal, having fun at the same time. carrying sand and bricks, doing sai kang (hahax...fatigue work as 2nd lieutenant amos calls it, one funny guy), and just enjoying the sunset (hmmm...we had tt in army on our second last day while eating dinner, quite cool actually)...simple things that remind you of who you really are.
