round and round

sure has been a long weekend! okie i'm still rather hyper but tired after everything...like i've done many things over this weekend hahax but it's a mental prep for the upcoming ya...platoon field camp + SPADE. like woah. hahax.

caught XIII after the bookout on sat (even tho the rest booked out on fri *sighs* but at least i got a good rest back at camp) wif xianlun...nt tt nobody didn't warn me about the movie but ya, it's just a lil disappointed at the abruptness of the mm (go catch it and you'll understand), and also the suddeness of the ending, rather anticlimax. CG wise, yar it's darn gud, and the fighting scenes were not bad too. but that's all that makes your money worth, so try to watch it on a weekday (hmmm for those people who are lucky enuff to be free on weekdays hahax). met a couple of familiar faces there too...tink saturday was spent mainly on walking. going in circles in the shopping mall and also ya...just a lot of walking. fortunately my knees getting better, so hopefully i can survive the field camp wif this better knee...rhumetism hahax.

sunday was rather well spent i suppose. visiting my grandparents in the afternoon, and ya i tink this urban modernisation has made singapore lose a lot of its local flavor. take tiong bahru for example. there used to be many shophouses, brick buildings and ya, traditional wet markets wif tt vibe and smell. it's quite rare to see these nowadays, especially the two storey shophouses. now after the renovation and shifting, they've sorta 'compiled' the shops into one modern building which altho looks more organised but the shops are much smaller. and the flavor is somewhat lost. tink it's because i grew up in one, and then after so many years there have been so many changes made, which ya...just feel rather sad for my grandparents who've been working and living there for so long, at least 30 years i suppose. all the childhood memories playing hide and seek in the shophouse, rearing catapillers into butterflies, and the intoxicating smell of chinese herbs...all gone to modernisation. *sighs* sounds rather gp-ish hahax, but i think part of me still lives in the past.

anyway, cantabile XX was such a success lar! sad thing is that i went there alone hahax...altho i met thomas there, he was like spreading news about me hahax. tsk tsk...you too! but ya, met jiali and her friends, which i must say were really nice. and christine and ruth were on stage emceeing lar! even tho i met them one week ago, we didn't meet for very long, so was really happy to see them again! the performances were great, esp the one which they had the claps and stomps (i forgot what's the title of the song liao...but ya it was really cute and funny lar!). the funky 5, the guitar, and the dancing...hahax must say the concert was really creative! really enjoyed myself...you guys were so high lar! so yep that marks the start of your hols, so do enjoy yourselves ya? shall leave it as it is...it'll be a long week, but i'll survive it, i hope hahax...jiayou!

everybody's changing

yayness! hahax shall start by being a little hyper after yesterday...it felt so much better lar! hmmm i haven't blogged like in 2 weeks so yep, startin to feel a lil' guilty, especially since yep, lotsa events happened within the past two weeks...mm yep!

anyway, the past two weeks have been rather exciting, and quite fun...at least for patrol field camp! hahax back in tt tiny island tekong doing funny patrols, like some war game. SISPEC people were there too, so yar it's been rather tiring but fun! tink our highlights were during the recce patrol, where we were supposed to spy on our enemy at night...we were supposed to be invisible to the enemy, so we had to move quietly and everything. suddenly out of nowhere the enemy patrol came with their torches and we just proned down on the ground. 11 people proning down in a sparsely vegetated forest at 3am, and then the enemy kicked us and thought it was an obstacle...and walked off just like that! hahax it's not tt easy to understand here but yep it seemed real enough and we didn't get caught or anything, so yar we were laughing about it all the way back to base...basically nowadays we laugh about almost everything, as in tough training you need to have some entertainment and optimism to keep you going. as they say, 'it's all in the mind', everything can be accomplished with determination, fighting spirit and motivation...sheesh i'm talking something i can't accomplish hahax...

the past week has been rather slack, with lectures and more lectures about platoon stuff, but it's just to prepare us better for the upcoming field camp which is like 2 weeks away from now...a 7 days field camp, which combines SPADE (means a whole lotta digging for about...hmmm maybe 3 days?) and platoon field camp. so yar, we really need to be at our best and recover totally so that we'll be at our 100% during platoon field camp. some views about instructors and people have changed, and i've definitely found great friends here too. i tink people realise who their true friends are during tough times...which can be painful as they've always been by your side but you've never cherished their company enough. *sighs* and then you start to question certain current friendships, whether they are real or just a one time thing...time is the ultimate test of friendship i believe. i'm really glad i have a couple of close friends whom i know will never change...maybe i'm wondering too much and being too sensitive *sighs*.

back to track, college day was outstanding! hahax breathing the NJ air once again was rather refreshing, meeting up with jim, seng ee, shiwei and xianlun for breakfast at kap and then rushing to school realising we were late. o wells the talk lasted like 1hr ++ hahax, so missing 15minutes was no big deal i guess, and yar the video was really professional...wonder if the photography club did it or some outside professionals, i say the latter hahax...then prize winner after prize winner, it started to bring back the spirit. i dunno, when you look back at what you've done previously, you just feel happy. the times we've spent playing cards in class, our canteen gatherings, the friendly waves...yar it just makes me really happy because those moments were real and i knew i was happy then! the performances were really good too, and yar reminded me about the airtime we got during our last college day (hahax!), brazillian street dance, granada, blackbird (hahax tt wasn't our idea, but rather original!) and also the other mini performances like "Hotel California", street basking and yar...i feel that i had a really vibrant experience in NJ, allowing me to try out various aspects of "life" and yar, i'm a more complete person i guess. looking at the photos really make me wonder what i felt then...memories!

after that, after close to 2 months, i finally met jiali, ruth and chrisitine! we've been like trying so hard to meet since dunno when...and yep it was really great to see them happy and everything. even though we're leading seperate lives, we still know our friendship is true and lasting *winks*! also met grace, esther and sixun...somehow all of them still look the same from the last time i remembered hahax. met lotsa other people like keefe, melvin, richard, and some from my wing as well, which was really refreshing. funtasia itself was a blast, but i bet they didn't expect such overwhelming response! couldn't even walk through properly lar...and we as seniors, thinking that our army skills will come into good use, challenged some juniors to laser quest, thinking it'll be a sure-win game.

we really need more training yar? hahax.

but i guess it's just really fun to be in all the action and hype after so many days of army life...feeling young again, not that i'm really old anyway, but you just feel revived. a pity we couldn't have a dinner yesterday with you guys, i'm sure we have a lot to talk about but next week...hmmm choir concert...sounds good to me! hahax i'm just really hyper now after thinking about what happened yesterday. after homing around funtasia for food and games, we left for PS to catch The Da Vinci Code, but the queues were killer, so we just had to settle for the new Cathay Cineplex, front row seats.

no way am i going to do that again, especially at the Grand Cathay. it's this premium cinema room which is really big (something like Lido) and has good seats, good atmosphere, sound and everything. feels like a mini Kodak Theatre, really grand. on the whole, the movie was great, but if you've read the book before, you'll realise some details, okay, a lot of details are missing, but since it's already a 2.5hr movie, it's a great movie with great acting. Sophie Neveau, Robert Langdon, Leigh Teabing, Remy, Silas, and yar...i must commend Tom Hanks, Audrey Tatou and Ian McKellen for the great acting, and also the director for putting the movie in such a past-present view...shan't spoil the movie for now, all i can say is, it's great!

hahax tt's all for now...gtg fer dinner, and ya the new paper big walk was great too, though tiring but fun!

"Veritas vos liberabit"

it's been quite some time since i last blogged hasn't it? hahax...been realli tired after section field camp, which was more tiring than i expected. but then again, when you train hard, you play equally hard as well :)

anyway, looking from the past two weeks, i guess i've really learnt a lot about myself, my limits and also my peers. i have full confidence that i can survive thru this course, with my fellow section mates! hahax i'm nt gng to mention any names here but yep, you know who you are! it's been a tiring and enduring journey thus far, and i'm sure it will carry on!

actualli last friday was the guitar concert, which unfortunately i was unable to attend. looking back one year, it was almost the time where we got our guitar GOLD! hahax...looking at all the happy memories we had playing guitar, carrying fans, drills and also the friendship! it's just great looking back at the little memories that we had, especially while we were waiting fer our results for syf...nerve wrecking it was but we did it! hahax somehow i still remember how to play granada, and even the shredding part! i guess those times were one of the defining moments of my JC life, and i'm sure for many others too!

at least for the past two weeks i've been able to meet up with some of my friends, even my secondary school friends! hahax i never thought i would be able to meet up with you again, and yesterday wasn't the best of our times, but i'm just really happy that we met! many things have changed between us, and time has certainly done it's part, but i'm just really glad you remember me! somehow writing letters do help bring back memories doesn't it? :) phew...it has been a rather happy week, but rather tiring as well...i'm sure the upcoming one will be worse, but i shall try to hang in there till vesak day! patrol field camp...tsk tsk...must really stay alert yar? 2 days 2 nites without sleep...yawnx i'm nt even having enough sleep on normal days lar! o wells...and it's been almost 2 months since i last saw you guys...i know i've been saying this over and over again, but yep i really do miss you guys and really hope to meet up soon. if i'm desperate enough i might even pop by your houses or something hahax...okie then, tt's all for this two weeks, rather short but...my mind's been in a mess lately. take care and keep watching this space!
